Sarah's picture

This picture is totally random, but i thought the background was spiffy :) also i think the dimensions are cool. yeah, i don't even know what that word means, but it sounds professional :)

Lizzy Claxon

The assignment was a self portrait and I thought this place looked cool. It was at Bethel Camp in Eastern Kentucky.

Katie Simmons

I took this picture in my back yard which backs up to a field. It was taken with a Canon Powershot A75 and the setting was on landscape. I also changed it to black and white with my photo program. Your comments and/or criticisms are appreciated. :)

Rachel's Self Portrait

ok, so this is a little random, but I was running out of time and out of ideas!! I just decided it might look neat if i was looking through the trees. I'm still not sure if i like it. But I decided to use it anyway! I used a Sony Cyber-shot 6.0..........and it was on normal settings....plain and simple......and easy!!

Brigette Gifford

This is my self portrait. I took this picture on Auto with my Samsung Digimax L85. It was taken outside in the front of my house by our big tree. I liked Victoria's idea to take it by the tree so I did it too. Thanks for the idea! :) Hope you all like it. I would love to hear any criticism or compliments.

Hey guys =] well..i was just taking abunch of random pictures and i realized that the sun was behind me so i just played around with it and heres what i came up with..i think its kinda cool how you can see the rays of the sun, it makes it look photoshopped..ohyeahh, and i couldnt figure out how to rotate it so you kinda have to look at it sideways..:/

Krista Burchett - Self Portrait

My dad might not have appreciated the dandelion seeds all over the front yard, but I think it made a cool picture. (Didn't learn until later that those poofy things were dandelions... oops.) I enhanced the color by increasing the saturation using the Windows Vista Photo Editor.

Lianna Walker's Photo

This is my self photo in my back yard in front of Butterfly bush(that are purple). I love doing black and white pictures because it makes me think of the olden days when they took those old pictues that are in black and white. I took this picture in program auto.

Ben - The Portrait

This was taken in my room. I like taking sepia pictures sometimes. Taking pictures in sepia just seems to add more to the picture overall and also makes it look somewhat old. I was experimenting with the light/darkness in this picture one day, so I just turned it sepia and then darkened it a bit and there you have it.

Caleb Blankenship - Self-Portrait

Yeah, so this is my self-portrait. I took it when I was messing around with my old and not to great camera. When I tried to duplicate it with my good camera I couldn't get it to come out right. So I am posting this one. B-)

Jessica DeMoor

Hey this is my self portrait. I took it in my room on the auto mode setting and then I turned it black and white with the design gallery on my camera. My camera is an HP Photosmart M547 digital camera.

Jessica Graehler, (Adv. Photography)

This is my self portrait. I took this picture in my backyard. (behind me is our fence and a tomato plant) I used my older sister's Nikon Coolpix 5600 (point and shoot) to take this picture. It was on the 'regular mode' self-timer with black-and-white as the color. Victoria's picture actually inspired me to grab my camera and go take pictures!
Any constructive criticism/comments would be greatly appreciated.
God bless,
Jessica Graehler

Victoria's Self Portrait

Welcome Students! Week One

I am so excited to be a part of your photography experience this semester! My name is Rachel Wetmore, I am a student at Berea College a little less than an hour south of Lexington. I have worked with photography for several years, both on my own with freelance wedding and portrait photography as well as under National studio chain. I was home educated all the way through and can relate to some of the joys and struggles that you face as a home educated high school student.

It is my hope that this class will be more of a sharing time for all of us learn new ways at looking at the world around us through our camera lenses. Whether you have a small point and shoot camera, or a larger format SLR camera you can still capture beautiful images.

We will use this Blog format for our weekly assignments, once you come here www.bluegrassphoto.blogspot.com you will go to the top right hand corner where you will sign in with the e-mail address bluegrassphoto@gmail.com with the password "shutterspeed" (quotation marks not included.) once signed in you will click on "New Post." You will then write a description of the photo, including what inspired you to take it, where you were, what setting was on your camera etc.

You will load your picture by clicking on the little photo icon and uploading however many pictures were assigned.

The next part of the assignment is to make comments on two other photos taken by other students. The goal is to get feedback for all the students. (please try to be aware of photos that have not been commented on yet when commenting, we want everyone to get feedback.) you can make suggestions for improvement, but please also look for something positive to say as well.

When making comments you might have to put in an e-mail address, you can put in the bluegrass photo one or your own, but be sure to sign the comment.

ASSIGNMENT #1
