This true story is about an organ that is about 30 years old. It was origionally bought 30 years ago for a coal-miner's son who lived in Eastern Kentucky. The son was in some sort of a band (and although I have never heard of a band using an organ as an instrument), he wanted an organ to play in the band. However, he eventually became bored with it and the organ was stored in his garage for quite some time before the family sold it to a music store. A lady who also lived in Eastern Kentucky bought the same organ from the music store. As the lady aged, she decided to move in with her daughter, who lived in Lexington, Kentucky. After some time, the lady died and the daughter was left with the organ. After having the organ in her possession for a while, the lady decided to donate it to a silent auction at the Mary Queen Fall Festival. This musical instrument was wanted by two bidders at the Fall Festival and eventually became part of the live auction. In the end, my mom won the bidding. It took 5 grown men to push this organ into our neighbor's pick-up-truck. We had to call a few neighbors to ask them to help us get it in our house. I have been wanting to take organ lessons for quite some time but when I met with an organ instructor, he said he would require me to practice 1 hour a day. Because I did not have an organ at home, this proved to be quite a problem; however, God's Providence intervened and we found this beautiful (but desperately needing a tuning) organ at the Mary Queen Fall Festival.
(in this picture, the organ is in our neighbor's pick-up-truck, waiting to be lifted inside our house...)
